What is downwind safari?
A downwind safari is a kitesurfing trip along the coast, following the direction of the wind. It is a unique and exciting way to explore the amazing landscapes that Vietnam has to offer.
How it works
Bring your family, your gear, and all of your luggage!
Your family will accompany you with a tour guide in a comfortable bus, while you ride ride downwind on the water. Your family will have lots of stops along the way and will meet you at the hotel at the end of the day.

Why Vietnam?
Vietnam has almost 2,220 kilometers of coastline. The southeast part of the country is considered one of the best kitesurfing destinations in the world!
From December to April, Vietnam has consistently strong northeast winds, with wind speeds ranging from 10 to 40 knots.

Be advised that we do not operate in the summertime due to the rainy season.
Where will we go?
Your trip will take place on the south-eastern coast of Vietnam. Depending on your tour, you will cover 90−120 kilometers on the water from Phan Rang to Vung Tau.
Your family will visit beautifuls spots all along the coast.
The average distance of each downwind run is 15−30 kilometers.

Accommodation
After each ride, you and your family will stay the two nights in a modern hotel. There you can relax and prepare your equipment for the next ride.
On rest days, you will be able to visit the nearest attractions with your family. You can also choose to ride at the hotel’s beach.
Eat like a local
Lunches and dinners are intentionally not included in our trip. That’s because Vietnam offers a local cuisine that is both delicious and affordable. You will be able to order lunch and dinner at the hotel or take a walk to the nearest restaurant.
Vietnamese people are very friendly, peaceful, and helpful! You’ll find that you will fall in love with eating out and interacting with the locals every day.

Safety

Our tours are available for riders of all levels. Beginners will be able to ride on the hotel beach and, if desired, take lessons. But downwind transitions are only available for "intermediate" and "advanced" riders!!! - Please note that you must be comfortable riding far from the coastline. Due to the coastal terrain and the tide, our riding path will sometimes be far from the coast.
- You will be equipped with GPS trackers. There will always be 2 kite instructor guides with you on the water and JetSki. The car will follow along the coast. In case of emergency, our guides will help you get to shore safely.
- If you are unsure of your riding abilities or level of experience at any point during the safari, you can take the bus and ride at the hotel’s beach.
- If at any point our kite guide instructors believes you are not fit for a downwind ride, you will not be allowed to ride for own safety and for the safety of the group.
- We recommend bringing 2 kites and 2 bars. Big repairs will not be available at all during the trip.
- Please note that the sun in Vietnam is quite strong, so a good quality water resistant sunscreen is a must. We suggest you bring Zinc sunscreen, a long-sleeved shirt, a hat, and anything else to protect you from the sun.
- In case you do not have your own equipment, rental are available at a discounted rate.
- For downwind participants, we strongly recommend purchasing sports insurance!!!
Payment terms and tours cancellations
To book the tour, you need to make a prepayment of 60% of the tour cost.
There is a refund schedule in case of cancellation of participation in the tour:
- Cancellation before 40 days of the tour start: refund 100%
- Cancellation between 40 to 20 days of the
tour start: refund 50%
- Cancellation less than 20 days of the
tour start: refund is not
possible.
Final payment can be made
upon arrival.
